WELCOME BACK STUDENTS SCHOOL REGISTRATION 8/19/10 3:00 - 7:00 KG - 12TH GRADES REMEMBER +++ ALL STUDENTS MUST FILL OUT NEW REGISTRATION FORMS. **************VIEW STUDENT GRADES********************* Parents you may view your child's grades by picking up your child specific code from Ms. Boatwright in the front office. I have found it is very helpful to look over the grades and help students check to see if they have missed handing in a graded assignment. TWO-to-One Rule for Teacher/Parent Comments On an average day a parent/teacher makes many comments and give many directions to a child. This ongoing commentary provides opportunity to create distance or to improve closeness between parent/teacher and child and to shape the child's behavior. If the commentary is mostly negative (e.g., " Stop that." "Why do you have to do that?" "There you go again." "How many times must I tell you?" ), then a wall between parent/teacher and child can build up. If the commentary is mostly positive (e.g., "Good job." "I like the fact you tried to do your best." "You are smart." "I like when you help out.") then good feelings develop between parent/teacher and child. Of course a child will need to be told to do some things and will need reprimanding, but a focus on the positive is needed. It is recommended that you make a purposeful effort to make twice as many positive comments as negative comments to your child/student. Career development includes "the employment of strategies to achieve future career success and job satisfaction as well as fostering understanding of the relationship between personal qualities, education and training, and the world of work." PAWS in jobland and Choices are two programs that our students will use to see the significance of career awareness, exploration, decision-making and planning in their lives. * Improve Your Vision: See Yourself in a Rewarding Career * See Careers as a Four-Letter Word ....LIFE * Get a Life.
